Islamabad: Electricity is likely to be expensive in the country due to fuel adjustment.

CPPA has recommended a one-way increase of Rs 86 paise per unit in electricity tariffs. The fuel adjustment will be extended for one month in August.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed an application in NEPRA and a decision on the increase in power rates will be made on October 2.

CPPA said that electricity generated 40.33 percent from water and 13.34 percent from coal in August, 11.87 percent from local gas and 22.89 percent from imported LNG, 3.60 percent from furnace oil and 4.66 percent from nuclear sources.
